Lake Tahoe provides paddlers a unique opportunity to experience paddling in a truly epic natural amphitheater. Think floating on the largest and highest fresh water, and one of the clearest, lakes in North America. Add in the majestic panorama of the Sierra Mountains and you’ve got a recipe for paddling glory. Stand up paddleboarding (SUP) on Lake Tahoe provides a great perspective to pier down into the clear Tahoe water. There are many access points, paddling shops, and rental locations. Lake Tahoe plays host to paddling events. The Ta-hoe Nalu is one of the very first Lake Tahoe SUP events, others include the Tahoe Waterman Paddle Racing Series, and the Thunderbird 8 and 4 Miler. The Tahoe Adventure Challenge has a paddling stage.The Lake Tahoe Water Trail is an endless 72-mile water route along the shoreline with public launch and landing sites.
